My coop build - a raised coop with an enclosed run underneath. PIC HEAVY - still in progress

Thanks again for the info. We painted the all the coop parts with exterior oops paint before putting it together, but the color is an awful putty beige. I figure that would act as primer so the paint doesn't soak in. I am thinking one gallon of the blue would be enough. Our coop is 4x4, with run 4x9 I think ...here's a progress pic below. We have corrugated metal for the roofing.

I am not sure if you know where Mira Mesa is, but we are super close to the Miramar base. I joke that we have skid marks on the roof from the planes. :) Do you miss San Diego? I grew up in LA and I love it here.

FABULOUS coop!!!!! I just love it, well done! I can't wait to see finished pics!

Yes we miss SD..especially the weather, and yup, been around Mira Mesa too! :)

I ORDERED OUR BABIES!!! I was going to go with local, but after many loops and twists I decided to jump in and order of my pet chicken to get sexed bantams and the breeds I was longing for.

I couldn't meet the 5minimum for my area by myself so a sweet local (30min) friend is getting 3 to add to her girls at the same time and I got to choose her babies!

I am getting:
Black Australorp
Blue-Splash Marans
Welsummer Bantam
Black Frizzle Cochin Bantam

And she's getting:
Ancona
Welsummer Bantam
Quail Antwerp Belgian Bantam

Mostly bantams for her because she has a small E Egger than gets picked on and has no friends, so these are to be her friends :)

Coop is much closer to done but not there yet..need more bottle caps for sure - btw best advice ever : flattened bottle caps instead of fender washers!!!!

Ok, my giddy self needs to be off...I get my babies 22nd or 23rd Aug!!

My babies were mailed this morning!

Coop is 99% done! As soon as I can find my camera's charger I'll post some updated pics. I'm so excited! The kids and I went to buy the feed etc today and the brooder tub is ready! Just an equipment check and we'll be ready for their arrival!

I can't wait to see it!

We finally finished ours too. I ended up with a brighter blue, but I still love it.

Oh my goodness, it's beautiful! I LOVE the colour and how it turned out. Well done indeed!

My babies are here (+ 3 a friend is picking up tomorrow) :

And I am about 95% done on the coop! Need to finish up one side - front piece on the run to match the right hand side, a small piece on the right side needs to be cut to size and screwed on, and latches on 2 doors.
The coop needs latches on some doors incl the pop door, and some hook and eye style eyes screwed into the underside of the roof edge to hook the front flaps on when they're lifted up and open like the one on the left front. A few other minor things and a good cleaning out of building material scraps, and then it'll be ready for the brooder to move into there soon!
I'll probably stencil something on the flaps or the front at some point, but necessities come first.
