My coop was actually a tree house for my kids. It was up a tree for 12 years. I've always wanted chickens and was searching for a coop design when I was looking out the yard one day I realized I was staring at my future coop! I dismanted the tree house and then put it back together again. I added a cabin area for my hens and wired in the other area so they a weather and preditor protected area.

Great recycling idea. Good thing you took it out of the tree of egg gathering could have gotten tough.

I'm searching for bantam barred plymouth rocks, would consider some buffs or partridge. These will be my first chickens and after much reading and visiting the fairs I really like the plymouth rocks. I've spoken to several people but I'm having a hard time connecting with someone with this breed that is ready to sell. The good thing is, the more people I talk to that don't have the birds they keep forwarding me to some one that might.
