My coop is done.

What does eveyone think? I live in southern California and am only legally able to have 5 hens. I figured this was big enough. It is 4'X10'. I have built the ramp for them to go inside the house it's just not in the picture. I used construction mesh and buried it about a foot and a half in the ground. I don't think I will have many preditor problems but I have seen a coyote once down the street. My wife told me I couldn't have chickens unless the coop looked good. She's happy with it.

That's a good looking set up. I'm particularly interested in your roof design. That's just what I want for my run. How did you secure the big rafters to the 2x4's? Are they toenailed or did you use some sort of metal brackets?

I just pre drilled some counter sinked holes and used screws.

How deep is your hardware cloth buried? I see that you have the whole thing sitting on concrete footings - are they poured, or blocks?
