For humans, that is.
I was out walking the dog late this evening, so it was just about dark by the time I headed to the coop to lock up.
Since there was a little light left for me to see by, I didn't bother with a flashlight.
Lilith was sleeping on the floor, so I squatted down to pick her up and a hen reached out from the roost and bit me on the left shoulder.

Stood back up quickly and she caught me on the right forearm.

Moved quickly away from that hen and went to set Lilith down on a an empty roost, next to Thor. Thor bit me on the hand!

Don't go into my coop at night. My chickens bite first and ask questions later.

Three new bruises to explain to hubby.

Yeah, feed them to Thor!

Shoot! My bossier girls would knock Thor out of the way to get a bite in, just like they do at treat time. Yep, my big ol' boy has HEN PECKED written all over him.

LOL! My chickens always kind of looked up at me sleepily as if to say, "Moooom, we thought you'd never put us to bed". They were actually very sweet. Thank goodness they finally learned to put themselves to bed, so I don't have to do it every night now.

I recommend you get some silkies Kat. They're not so bitey!!

That's true, I have a young silkie that hangs out with some young guineas. The guineas have decided to roost in the barn on top of the quails' cages. The silkie can get part way up there, but can't figure out how to manage the last little bit, so she waits for me to come along and pick her up and put her with her buddies. Of course this makes the crazy goonies leave, but that means fluffy baby gets to be on the bottom of the pile, so she's happy!

Silkies are so sweet, how can you not have some??

Either those or d'uccles, they are pretty sweet too. Or japs, or OEGB, or......

Oh my brahmas are awful sweet, in the daytime when they can see.
They all put themselves to bed, but poor Lilith always get knocked to the floor during the roost wars and Lil'Bit waits by the door for me to find her a roost. All I have to do is lock the door.
Insider, the only way I'm going to have a silkie is if you drop one off here. Call it a drive by silky-ing.
