Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: Extended Edition

Pics
☹️ We're down to 9 ☹️

Siren, the chick that pipped with Finey, another of Pot's and Kettle's chicks passed last night or early this morning.

I named is Siren because it complained alot, but seemed healthy otherwise. No pasty butt, full crop, growing at the same rate as the others, playing and active, normal poops and the complaining stopped when I held it, so I assumed it was just seeking attention.

I've had Poultry Cell in their water for the past 3 days w a seperate waterer of untreated water.

This is making me think either Pot or Kettle are producing unhealthy chicks. This could be why so many of Pot's eggs didn't hatch.☹️:idunno

I am so sorry. :hugs Failure to thrive can be genetic. :( Too many losses can be from bacteria in the incubator so make sure the thoroughly fumigate between hatches.

The incubator was new, but I'll make sure to clean it well before using it again.

I'll have more pullets next spring, the current 7 and 8 week olds, to divide up with the males to better determine where the problem is.

Edited typos.

Sweety is still sitting, but I saw her laying an egg when I went to check on her. . .the poor girl is just as confused as I am :idunno . No chicks yet, though. :fl 3 days to go.

So glad we finally have cooler weather; the new 10 x 25 ft run is nearly complete.
