I too would suggest hardware cloth along the bottom ASAP. When I expanded my run I was in a hurry to get them in it and figured I'd add the hardware cloth later. A couple of days later I went out and a wild barn cat had one of my young Marans roos pulled up and against and through the fence eating him. I was sooo ticked. The hardware cloth went up that day. I don't have a clue how he got a hold of him, but he did and it was the roo I was saving to replace my old cuckoo Marans.
