Thanks.

We live in the county so we don't have restrictions, unless our subdivision has restrictions. I wasn't worried about that because there is no homeowners association to enforce restrictions and the developer is kind of broke. I was suprised that Raleigh, NC ( about 500,000 people) which we are close to, allows up to six hens in town. The newspaper is sponsoring a tour of in town chicken coops in May. I'm going to go and take some pictures and post.

That sounds like so much fun! Chicken people are a unique breed of person! About the rain runoff into the run area, what about laying wood shavings down? I do that in my run, because it tends to be a wet area in my yard. It keeps it dry, and when it gets too poopy, I either put another layer on, or I rake it up for my compost. I don't find it very expensive, either. Keeps their feet from the wet and the mud, and in my opinion the run looks neater. Just an idea...

I think it looks great! I bet your birds are happy!

When I make mine, I want to slope the roof to one side and put a gutter of some sort --something simple so that rain can be collected to one end and put a bucket under it.
I will have a small vegetable garden right next to the chicken run, I can use the rain water collected in the bucket for it.

You have good size openings (two I can see) on the coop that will help the birds to stay comfortable during hot season.
Good air circulation is another thing I'm still wondering with, since we have such a sticky summer season here.

I plan on doing exactly that. I had that wooded are thinned last year and the contractor brought one of those big grinders, and I have about 4 dump truck loads of pine mulch. As a matter of fact, I raked it around and let it dry out real good and that's what I put in the coop.

Mine does slope about 1" over 10' but it is into the run area. I had thought that if it became a problem, I could run a gutter across and a downspout to channel the water away.

I'm happy, but tired of working on it!!!
I felt a lot of pressure because I bought the chicks at 3 weeks old. I got the coop done to get them out of my garage. Then I felt pressure, because it started to get hot as they were getting bigger. I needed some outdoor space.

Overall, I think it turned out well.

Carolina Chicken Girl really loves the chickens. She loves to feed them grapes.

Chickens are so much fun to watch when they are eating grapes! Like tackle football on a short scale! Lol, sounds like you guys are having a bunch of fun with your birds...now the wait for the elusive first egg!

It looks great. I do have one suggestion, Please put hardware cloth down at the bottom so nothing can stick it's hand in there to get one of your babies.
