My Coop/Run !!!

Really nice. I like the way there are different sections.Looks like a condo. Looks like could be easily made from pallets. What did yyou use for base under coop -the piece with holes in it? Lets see the chicks now.

I liked the vent in the nest box.

Wow! I really like the style! If I had to describe it, I think I would say, Frank Lloyd Wright meets Arts and Crafts/Mission movement. Very cool!

What I call the "coop" is the top section of the taller structure. If you look under the coop door you will see a drawer handle...this is used to remove the entire coop floor, which is 1/4" mesh hardware cloth stretched and stapled to a 2"x4" frame....it's easy in their feet but still managed to catch the poop when they are up roosting. I simply remove the "stairs" from the top section to the lower section (it is attached with a thumbscrew so no tools required), then pull the drawer out, lean it up against a tree, and blast all of the poop off of it with a garden hose jet nozzle. Let it dry, slide it back in, clean and re-install "stairs", and I'm done.

The four main legs of the coop structure index into the pressure-treated "runners" you see on either side of the base of the main structure, and the runners then sit on cement blocks. You will notice slots near the end of the runners....this is so that if I ever want to anchor the coop more securely to the ground, I can drive or cement 2" x 4" stakes through those slots and secure them transversely with bolts through the runners and the stakes.

The whole idea was to make the coop somewhat transportable in a common pickup truck. The runners come off, the roof simply lifts off, and now, the nest boxes are also removable just by taking out six screws.

Thank you all for the very kind compliments, I really appreciate it.
