your coop is great! I would just use a water based sealer/primer and paint. That should do it for you. The sprayer can really put the paint on easy and covers well. We painted our whole house last year and it did a really good job. Keep sending pictures.
Very pretty place you have there... and I'm jealous of your pond. Sure, we have rivers close by, but how many people have ponds right in their own yard??? And green. I can't wait for spring to get here!!!

Thank you so much; we love it until a hurricane hits.
Rita passed right over us and we were without power for 6 weeks; thankfully we didn’t have any property damage. We were on the West side of the storm and so the storm came at us from the North because of the counter clockwise rotation. We have a stand of old growth pines on the North side of the property and they acted like a windbreak and protected us from the worst of the storm. But the area suffered some devastating damage. Rita hit September 24, 2005 and there are people living in this area that still haven’t gotten their homes repaired and still have those blue tarps on their roofs.
A friend of ours; a widow whose son is an attorney is still living with her son because she can’t get her house fixed. Rita was the first hurricane to hit our area in 23 years; I hope it’s at least another 23 years before we get another one.

We do have some ducks but we don’t keep them in a coop. They are free to come and go as they please. They hang around here most of the time and we leave food out for them at all times but they do go somewhere else once in a while. Especially in the spring during mating season they don’t hang around the house as much as the rest of the year.

Yea, that’s what we will probably do.

My son has a friend who lives in Alaska and talks about moving. I know Alaska is a beautiful place but if the temperature drops below 65° I’m cold; I’d probably die in Alaska.

That's what I thought, too... I grew up in So. Cal! It does get cold, but you get used to it.

Does it really stay dark for 6 months and daylight for other 6?
Only above the Arctic Circle. We're about 400 miles south of there, so we get really long days in the summer and really short days in the winter, but it's not bad. Kinda fun, though it messes with your internal clock a bit.
