Just had to share this picture of my 2 chamois Sebrights and my teeny tiny silver quail Barbu D'anver. The sebrights are 4 weeks old and obviously a roo and a hen but the D'anver (who is called Meep) is 3 weeks old and his comb looks to be turning a bit pink. It looks like out of the 4 chicks I hatched myself - 3 are roos! First I hatched 3 lavender Dutch - 2 were roos. Then no joy with 2 batches of chamois Sebright eggs so the breeder hatched me 2, one is a roo. Then the only Barbu D'anver to hatch looks to be a roo too. I will be thinking of keeping 2 roos, the sebright and Meep. That leaves me with just 2 hens, will they be okay together until I hatch some more in the spring or will I need to keep the roos seperate from the hens til I have more? Sebright cockerals are non aggressive to other roos and Meep is going to be so tiny in comparison anyway.
