This is Diesel with his BFF Angel. He's about 160 lbs and she's about 6 lbs, and she STILL bosses him around.

They are wonderful dogs if you like devotion!! They are kind to other animals and TRY to be gentle. And if you don't have enough lap, that's okay - they're fine with overflowing onto the couch...lol.

Many years ago I had a friend that was a dog show judge, and raised Danes.
One night I got to meet her latest puppy, at a mutual friends house for dinner. The friends had Yorkies. The Yorkies were heavily infested with fleas. Doreen freaked and asked me to hold the puppy on my lap, to try to keep it away from the fleas. So I held that Great Dane puppy for a couple hours, on my lap.
