There is a condition called internal laying. Do you know anything about that? It is when a bird produces eggs but the eggs are released into the abdominal cavity. They pile up in there and eventually kill the bird. There is nothing that can be done about it. The bird that has this condition is going to die from it. The first indication of it is when the bird stops laying at an age when she should still be laying. It is followed by the bird losing dramatic amounts of weight despite eating normally. It then progresses to the bird going off her feet at times, staying by herself, having difficulties walking. The bird either dies around this point or the bird gets EYP which is egg yolk peritonitis. This is an infection fed by all the yolks in the abdominal cavity. The bird will get very swollen in the belly, run a fever, have difficulty breathing, have extreme difficulty walking and generally die a pretty painful death if she isn't euthanized.

I suspect your bird is laying internally. She is going to die. It could be sooner or it could be later, but this condition is going to kill her eventually. You will need to make a decision on how long you want her to suffer with it.

I had a hen that was laying internally. She stopped laying last fall at molt, but never started back up again. By March I knew she was ill because she went off her feet. She perked back up for a while, but her belly got bigger and bigger while the rest of her was wasting away. She started having walking problems in April and breathing problems in May. I euthanized her by the end of May. I couldn't watch her suffer anymore.

You will need to make the same decision soon. I am sorry.

I snapped her neck using the broomstick method. You can look it up using the search bar at the top of the page.
