My Daughter Has Chickenpox! UPDATE It's not chickenpox!

I remember having chicken pox... they wouldn't let me go to school... I felt fine and tore up the house. LOL I was like 5 so it didn't hit that hard. I'm all for getting it young and building up a natural immunity. That new, not so new, chicken pox vaccine lasts like 10 years, and to get it as an adult is a much much worse experience.

Hope it runs it's course fast and your daughter is up on her feet soon!

Wow....too strange! Last Thursday my 8 y/o came down with chickenpox!!! I didn't even know kids still got them since the have to be immunized against them. We did lots of Aveeno baths.

I don't have a real experience wih chicken pox. When I got them I only got like 2 spots and didn't even get a fever. Hope your daughter feels better.

When my son got Chickenpox I dabbed him with Blue Spray. Yes I know it's for horses, it also killed the itch instantly, dried them out and healed them very quickly. I told his Dr. what I did, and like he said, if it works it works, as an MD no he couldn't recommend it, but as a parent, he used it too! It works on fistula on a horse, keeps them from rubbing it, and dries it out,,, it only made sense. My grandad used it on me too.
I sprayed some on a plastic butter lid and used a cotton swab to dab it on. My son has no scars and it never spread. My sister-in-law thought I was crazy, her boys caught it at the same time, they have massive scars from raking themselves trying to scratch. When her daughter got it a couple of months later, she used it too.
The purple polka dots can really be interesting too.

Disclaimer: I am in no way suggesting anyone do what I do, I am merely saying what worked for me.

Oh man... that sucks. At least she got them young. I was in second grade. Someone brought it to school and we all ended up with it. I remember having a huge one in my nose and I could only breathe out one nostril.
I didn't know they had a vaccine for it now, but it's probably better that she got it now, instead of having to get a vaccine every 10 years.
Lots of oatmeal baths and lotion!
