I'll tell ya something funny. I always thought my mom was a bit cookoo, but here I am years later, quilting and gardening and remembering things she said from 20 years ago. You are giving her a gift. Kudos Mom!

Yes, any type of sewing, has altogether become a lost art. I have taught my 3 DD's to sew, can, cook, properly clean, garden, etc. you name it they can probably do it. My oldest, now on her own, is finding out how much fun it is to cook day after day.

She actually enjoys it very much. Our youngest usually cook once a month for us and our middle daughter can whip up just about anything from what seems like nothing. So many kids are so deprived of the instincts of how to do any of the above listed, and it saddens me greatly. I have been in a grocery store where I over heard a child say "Mom, all the food comes from behind that big wall, right?" That's sad when parents won't even teach their children simple things like, where their food actually comes from.....then again, they probably aren't sure themselves.

I am very proud of their accomplishments, even though they didn't receive a 1st place Blue rRibbon or a Certificate. Some of the most important things a child needs to be taught doesn't come from a textbook.

That's all window dressing. The sense of accomplishment they receive when they complete something. We (and your kids) had parents that allowed us to make mistakes and learn from them, even if it meant falling flat on our face.

Makes me crazy at school when they don't want you to correct the childs errors or give them a failing mark. How are they to know accomplishment if they don't know failure? Even the little babes have to get their knees dirty before they learn how to walk strong and steady.

Just think of where they are going to go from here!!
