my day old chick

I have a day old chick that my have trouble going to poo.His vent is extended just a lttle and his poor little down feathers are all gone .Can some please help this is my first hatch.Newbie to the chicken world.

Is he going poo at all? If not try putting him in a warm bath and gently massage his tummy. That and the warm water should help and he should be able to go. He might have a case of pasty butt. Search for it on this site and the many wonderful people on here have posted their suggestions.

If he cant poo he may die so be persistant.

what bedding are you using?

what temp are you keeping the chick?
what are you feeding?

applying a little oil to the vent might help..
also give a teeny piece of bread soaked in oil might help..
along with damp warm cloth applied to vent..

a little sugar in the water..or a little molasses..

he really needs unblocked quick.
