Start with a small flock, 10 or so is very manageable... after you are comfortable and more knowledgeable you can expand.

That's what I did.

Well my flock is going to be 16 soon and he was going to send me to a chicken show by myself with money to buy any chickens I wanted! I think he might have a secret obsession himself but he hasn't admitted to it yet!! Either way I'm having a hard time controlling my addiction now and chicken math is taking over. And the chicks coming to the feed store soon won't help any!!

wow....I'm soooo jealous! My DH severely limited my obsession by making a small coop

Oh, how I long for 24 chickens - 2 hens of all sorts! soooo frustrating!

Have fun. I do agree with starting small. Whatever you do, it'll be awesome though!

I even get to do the incubating too but he limited that to just the winter time.
