My Dog Brought Home a Duck....help!

Just got me thinking...are drakes as mean as roosters and do they just bite at you or will they fly up and claw you??

I have never had a human-aggressive duck, male or female. The drakes can be aggressive with each other, and I've had a lonely duck who would follow me around and tug at my pants-leg to get my attention, but not one that actually tried to hurt anyone (other than other ducks). I don't think ducks are like chickens that way AT ALL, though someone else might have had a different experience.

a duck chasing a full grown UPS man.. now that's funny, I don't care who you are..

ducks do not use their feet to fight like a chicken does.. so to have one fly up and claw you would have to be an accident..

I have never had a mean duck..

ducks are lovers, not fighters..

That drake looks like he is looking for love.

I would love to get an update on this!

By the way, I'm originally from DeLand. If you're from there we must know some of the same folk.

Any possibility of getting the duck a female or two? It looks like he's there to stay, so why not, right?

That duck is so cute! You are lucky to have acquired such a friendly duck (if of course, you wanted one, LOL).

I would bet he is a single duck that someone raised as a pet and then dumped. Ducks are not at all naturally trusting of dogs (or people usually), so it most likely was raised in close contact with both.

When ducks mate they grab hold of the neck and try to do they're thing, I think maybe that's what he's trying to do

He did seem really lost and sad without the dog around.
