My dog had puppies and all of her breast are very hard and misshapen.

She is still nursing good and when I massage her teats white healthy looking milk comes out. I'm still concerned for her and debating taking her to the vet. She seems perfectly healthy and I would hate to go spend money I really don't have just to be told she is fine, just really producing a lot of milk. Maybe she is like this because I feed her too well. I feed her raw eggs, organic milk, yogurt, bacon grease, and lots of meat. I know she is very muscular and healthy compared to any other nursing dogs I have seen.

We hunt feral hogs so I really keep my dogs in top shape, she has already caught a hog 2 weeks after birth.

I've spent $400 taking my dogs to the vet for no reason, well I got ear cleaner. I think I'm really overly cautious with my pets. I will keep y'all updated on her.

As long as the milk looks good, there's no fever (anything over 103), and no hot/tender spots, she's fine. She is just a great milk producer! Lol I've raised dogs for over 7 years & I've seen them look like this several times. Now - when she goes to wean them - you will have to watch closely for mastitis. I've had a dog with that & she certainly wasn't her usual self.

I would suspect mastitis but its all her teats and she isn't acting as though she is in pain...

I don't believe it was anything wrong at this point. She has kept up with her pup and they look a lot more normal now that the milk demand went up. They are soft now and her nipples look really great, even though the puppies are getting teeth and nursing a lot. They are started on soft food and beginning the weaning process.

So Nyla has weaned her pups and the past few days her skin in the teat area has developed all these lumps and bumps. Some seem tender and fluid filled. I've been putting hydrocortisone on her daily but it's getting worse. HELP!!!!

I would google it first and call your vet to ask him. It almost sounds like an allergic reaction.

She is much better. It must have been fire ants and a few puppies had the bumps too. I'm guessing they got into them out playing with her in the yard. She is almost completely healed up, just a few spots still getting cream and fading quickly.
