My dog has cancer

That is quite old. The vet was concerned it had spread to Hattie's pancreas. Had it spread to any of her vital organs, we would not gave tried anything aggressive, either. It's about quality of life, you know? Don't want to torture her with endless surgeries and treatments. Never an easy decision to make.

My heart goes out to you and TJ. They just never stay in our lives long enough...
:hugs
Wow, I am sorry for both of you and your fur babies. Glad to see that you understand its quality not quantity. Our fur babies can't understand some of the pain they feel is because we tried to help them, they just know they are in pain.
Good luck to both and although it's very hard and heart breaking to have too make that final decision. Its the last gift/good thing you can do for them if they are suffering.

I am so so sorry about your dog. My heart goes out to you. Whatever you choose will be the right choice for your dog and family, but with a 12 year old dog and what sounds like it may be an incredibly expensive care routine (with possibly not 100% success), I may just feed her anything she wants and love her immensely and then let her tell me when it was time based on her behavior. If she is still loving life and filled with energy, then I may continue with her here until she wasn't feeling well.

It is a cruel world that dogs don't live as long as humans.
