I have a 6 year old female Shih Tzu. She woke up this morning and was whimpering, shaking (which she NEVER does even in the winter) and had her tail between her legs. I rubbed down her back (which about 6 months ago she had a slipped disk but we got it all fixed) and she did not look like her back was in pain. Do you think she might have got bitten from some kind of insect? I she sick? Could you PLEASE tell me what you think she might have! Thank you! God Bless!!!!

No one knows you're dog better than you. If she's acting strangely and you're worried somethings wrong, then take her to the vet. Better safe than sorry. Hope she's feeling better soon!

her back? a fluxated patella (my apso lilee has this, so i relocate it for her, but it doesnt cause that much of a pain/fright reaction), whatever it is, i would run to the vet with this one. its always easier to deal with visible things, and u cannot fix a slipped disk i.e. tis a problem that returns often, enough for an animal (or person) to twist around wrongly, like if she was cleaning herself, and her back went out.
urinary infection
animal /insect bite\
a million things....
