My dog might be put down by the law

My pitbull lab mix bit someone. There's 1/4 possibility he'll get put down. It's up to the lady he bit. He was unprovoked. I'm so upset, im sitting here crying and he's licking my face. Any ideas on how to remember him (pics? Videos?) if he... Passes on? Thank you.

Paws and remember (animal cremation group by me) does decorative urns and also does a plaque with the pets footprints that can be framed with a photo. They also have a locket thet they can put ashes in. Or an urn that is plantable and seeds grow into a plant, bush or tree.

I had my boy put down last July. He's an ex racer and his owner and trainer sent along his NGA yellow slip. I bought a shadow box and put in the slip and then tacked in his leather tag collar with his tags and then included his martingale collar as well. I will probably do something like this for the next dog, but there will be no NGA certificate - just collars and tags.

But what kills me is that the law is putting him down. I know he was unprovoked, but he was abused. That's no excuse, but...

How exactly did the woman get bitten?

She walked in our front door, turned around, bent over to take her shoes off and got bit on the hip.

That must be so hard for you. It is sad that these dogs have such a bad rap. I wonder if he could be retrained. I know that the law is really against pitbulls. I have never been bitten by a pitbull, but I have been bitten by all sorts of other dogs, including the ever popular lab!!!
It may have been unprovoked as far as you and the neighbor see it, but since you said he was abused in the past, he may have had some sort of trigger that caused him to bite someone. Who knows who he will bite the next time and how bad it will be.

Has he bitten before? Do they put dogs down for biting ONE time!

Maybe she wont press charges.....

Percyj; I don't know the rules for where you live, but that doesn't sound like an unprovoked attack. The dog wasn't running loose outside; it was demonstrating protective behavior in its own home. I'd go to court over it and not give up without a fight.
