My dogs are demons.

Yeah you’re right…we should probably start putting down humans too then…they are absolute monsters! Once they get a taste for chicken nuggets and roast chickens as kiddo’s it’s all over! They never stop wanting more nuggets, roasts and all things chicken! If we don’t put a stop to it pretty soon they will have huge farms full of chickens raised just to satisfy the humans constant hunger for chicken! What’s next they try some filet mignon and start eating the cows too?!!Those blood thirsty humans!

I did find this humorous, and your sarcasm is majestic, but, if you've ever seen a chicken house, it wouldn't be funny. They're everywhere out here, and I call them "chicken auschwitzes". Not making fun of Auschwitz at all, but because of the similarity in conditions. But I agree, a dog shouldn't be put down for killing a chicken. After human blood, however, is a different story.

IMO chickens, reptiles, and cats have always been better companions to me other than a singular dog who protects my flock. My chickens are cute and cuddly. My cats are stupid in a nondestructive way and my reptiles are just beautiful and derpy at the same time
I understand, of course some people just don't really like dogs, BUT dogs are definitely the most affected by rehoming. It's very difficult for them and can change them a lot. I urge you to not think of any dog, yours, your uncle's or a strage dog as a disposable thing that you can simply give away when it acts up.
I would like to throw it out there that I don’t have the time or money to train a dog and if she isn’t suitable for me and my family then the pound is a last resort.
Then you shouldn't have a dog at all, if you domt have time to train it then it will act up and that is definitely not the dogs fault.

and training can be completly free and only take 15 minutes a day.

Depends on the human. The line between travesty and service to humanity is getting thinner and thinner by the day

This thread has been getting some interesting responses.

I wonder if this is really about how many lives (chicken or otherwise) one can spare, or if it's about how one can get rid of animals they can't handle.

If it's about the former, then should we start butchering chickens for all the mouse, frog, worm, bug, cicada, etc lives they have taken, or do we consider that to be "natural instinct"
On a philosophical level I am a weird one. I’ve served in the military, maybe my experiences there broke something in me, I’m not sure. But I feel that consuming a living thing, be it vegetable or animal, is a violent act. If you think about it logically, then anyone can see that it is as you are actively destroying another life to sustain your own. So, commonly I find myself at severe dissonance with my own existence. I’m not in anyway suicidal, and I’m not saying that I see this extreme viewpoint as a practical way to live. I recognize it for what it is and I do my best to live with it. In practice the way that I force myself to look at it is that I have myself and I have mine. I do my absolute best to maintain a nature that is as peaceful as possible, with the caveat that I will protect all of those that are mine with what ever ferocity or means I deem necessary. “Mine” include all of the people and the animals, even plants, in my life. What threw me so far out into left field on this issue is that was that mine hurt mine. I had never dealt with anything like this and I had no idea how to react to it. I was in completely uncharted waters emotionally, and it took me a few to grasp back onto reality.
