I've had 3 chickens since early may; one of them very early on was established as the leader of the pack. she was never aggressive but she was definitely the ringleader of the group.
Today she was killed by a predator. The other two seem a bit lost without her around. Is this a good time to replace the dominant hen? I am not in a rush to replace her, unless in the immediate aftermath of her loss it would be more beneficial for the flock to do so.
