My dove has blood under his wing!

My dove has blood under his wing! What should i do, I am going to go outside to catch him soon. But what will i need to do?

It would appear that a feather stalk has broken, Possibly from my two males fighting over the one female. Is there anything i should do? It does not affect his flying though.

I would wash him clean with a warm bath of salt & water. Maybe put a little polysporn on the shaft to gard against infection.

Would something bad happen if I didn't do anything? Or will it heal by itself?

It may dry up or it may not. Sometimes you need to pull a broken blood feather out if the bleeding does not stop. They can act a little like an open catheter, just letting blood drip. We had to do that once for a cockatiel that broke a blood feather that just kept dripping. Took needle nose pliers and just firmly pulled it straight out.

I would clean him up first and put a little styptic powder or corn starch on it and see if it has stopped bleeding.
