My ducks love to eat a garter snake or red-bellied snake. They do leave the Big Momma Garter Snake, who lives in my rock fence, alone.
Not sure where you are. I think it is worthwhile getting some reference books, or know some google sites you can search for reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, insects, etc. in your area. Try to get a picture because the memory can be faulty, and lead us to believe something harmless is a threat.

I think your duck will be fine, but the snake on the other hand not so much.

I have to say I am glad your duck ate the snake. I had a snake eat 2 chicks and kill another at about 5 weeks old. And, yes, it was a pretty big snake. I killed him and would like to bring him back and kill him again.......or 6 times.
