I have 5 pet ducks , i had gone away to california for personal reasons , so i had my grandmother take care of the ducks 2 of them are 3 years old and the other 3 are 2 . After a week of being gone i came home to take care of my ducks , but i noticed that my female mallards jaw had been displaced , one side of her jaw is buldging to the side and the other side is normal, she cant open her mouth fully just halfway , i noticed she doesnt want to play in the mud as much as she used to , idk if her jaw is dislocated or broken but i need help asap .. i dont want her jaw forming displaced . These ducks mean so much to me , my ducks are therapy animals and idk what i would do if i lost one of them . Please help

It's not going to be easy but you need to check inside of her mouth to make sure nothing is between her jaw and inside of her face. Might have to get someone to hold her
Reason saying is we had a member whose goose had a stick lodged in it's mouth under it's tongue. So lets rule out all possibilities. Can she eat or drink at all? When you feel the side that's bulging is it soft and squishy or hard? can you look under feathers for bite wound or stinger[bee].

is a vet an option?

The buldge is kinda hard and we checked inside her mouth but nothing was in ther plus i dont wanna force it in place if its dislocated because its right next to her trachea(airway) and i dont wanna accidently kill her . But we made an appt to the vets tomorrow morning. Seems like she can eat properly and drink properly. But honestly i think both the males were both on top of her and maybe displaced it. Because on the back of her neck where the males usualy grab hold of during mating is bleeding a little bit , plus shes this frail and fragile little thing next to these heavy set male ducks.

Glad to hear you have a vet apt. and that she is eating and drinking, could have possibly been the drakes they can be extremely hard on a female especially if she is the only one. Might want to consider more females after you get her fixed up. Hopefully it isn't a broken or dislocated jaw. Please let us know what you find out.

:welcome

Thank you so much for all your support , we opened her jaw to check if anything is lodged in her throat and it was her jaw either fractured but most likely to be dislocated , and we have to feed her very very very small amounts of worms because for some reason the food gets stuck in the buldge and the food had been rotting , so we flushed it out and took all the bad food out .. so now she is taking a nice bath and is relaxing ❤️

No it wasnt food that created the buldge . Louie couldnt swallow the food very well so it would get stuck and it began going bad . But we learned that her jaw bone is portruding slanted which creates the buldge shes going to be getting xrays so fingers crossed that she could be fixed && i later found out that my grandmother somtimes hits or throws the brooms at the ducks which possibly made her jaw the way it is . Im pretty angry at the moment . Shes no longer babysitting my ducks . But as for this morning shes doing pretty good shes in a diaper i made for her and shes sleeping and shes exhausted but she seems to be at peace
