Me and my fiance just got 4 ducks a month ago. I didn't like the coops tractor supply sold. So I decided to just build this. It's 4x6, 6 feet tall and walk in. And the run is 8th. It's still got a lot of work to be done.

Looking good, and welcome to BYC! Hope you are able to get the coop painted before it gets rained or or damaged from rain...it looks really nice, and I'll bet your ducks will greatly enjoy it! We have an entire duck section here, so you'll want to get familiar with that section & the folks who post there. I've got ducks as well, and absolutely adore them!

Nice! I love having ducks. Show a picture! what breed(s) do you have?
If you hold them a LOT they get tolerant of brief holding sessions. They never do love it.
We catch ours by tiring them out. We will try to trap them in a corner and then we will swoop down and carefully pick them up. If a wing gets loose, they will flap like crazy, but don't let go unless you are hindering the flapping. You don't want to injure their wings. I will turn my face away, and wait until they stop, then reposition my hands to hold the wings in. They I can sit them on my lap and examine them, pet them, gently spread a wing out( I will gently grip near the closest to body joint, and slowly stretch out, waiting until she relaxes before pulling it out farther. Occasionally I have to let go, if she is fighting me while trying to stretch.)
I handle ALL my animals pretty invasively so if or when they get sick or hurt, I can tend to them and the grasp or pull or fop over...is nothing new.
btw, welcome! I have learned SOO much from this site and the people here, more than ANY book I could pick up.
