My duck has bumblefoot!

I noticed a few days ago that my duck had an swelled leg.. I took him to the vet. She gave me antibiotic shots and pain meds. I've been soaking it also.. Is there anything else I can do? The swelled area is HOT!.. Any home remedies? I don't want to euthanize him if I don't have too...

Gosh, poor thing. Have you tried soaking it in Epsom salt water? You just have to make sure it can't dip its beak in it. There's drawing cream, one is called PRID you could put on it after soaking, then wrap it lightly. There is a core that has to come out one way or the other. Sometimes it can be drawn out with PRID, and sometimes it has to be cut out.
