Hi!! My duck is 1 year old and last few weeks has been violently attacking me and biting me so hard it gives me blood blisters!! I have tried to sit on my duck for over 5 mins and spraying with water and removing from my garden and keeping him under my arm, he stops attacking for about 5-10 mins but as soon as I get in his face he attacks again!!! Sometimes you can go up to him and he looks happy then all of a sudden he will snap an jump on me an bite viciously!!
Any ideas anyone!?!?!

You said him and didn't mention any other ducks so because it is springtime he's probably well "frustrated" if you catch my drift. If he is an only duck then this could be his problem. Which is an easy fix all you would need to do is get him a few girlfriends.

What kind of duck is it? We have 2 Muscovy drakes that are very territorial, our other Muscovy drakes are very happy and pleasant. These two act like I'm trespassing in my own backyard! A face to face confrontation and they will attack, but if I pick up a tree branch and use it like a broom, they scuttle away. I don't even need to make contact, just wave it at them. Works here for me.

Sounds like you have a dominance problem, he thinks you're beneath him so NOT okay. What do you have for others birds? are their ducks for him? or companions of his own species.

I have a zero tolerance policy here, I am top drake/mare/dog what have you and challengers get put in their place, if they cannot be they go one way or the other.

That's not ok though, i have Muscovy drakes, they will fall over themselves to get out of MY way and do NOT challenge me, they know i am top drake, i don't care what they think is their territory, no way will i be displaced or moved by a drake.

The flocks do have a pecking order, one must always ensure you are on the top placement.

I am top of the pecking order. I tree branch and they go the other way. I was given these 2 as adults and this is the reason she got rid of them. I am used to a herd mentality as I have had horses my entire life, so I'm not one to allow a farm animal to push me around. I use what works best and for these two, it's a tree branch.

i have 5 aylesbury ducks.. 3 female and 2 male, i am still trying to find one of my drakes a new home but have only had offers to re-home from people without ducks, i have kept single drake alone in my parents garden and he didnt seem too unhappy!

Does anybody know if keeping a single male alone would be a problem?

For now I have been using a broom with good results! i also have a light blue bucket and only my nasty drake is scared of it
