My Duck is Missing!

I went out at about 6 this morning and noticed our male duck walking around alone. I thought his mate was laying, but now after nearly an hour she still hasn't shown up. I don't know where her current nest is, but according to everyone here pekins will no longer sit. He is clearly distressed and I would think if she was sitting he wouldn't be so upset. Where could she have gone? Its hard to believe a predator big enough to take a duck could make it into my yard, through the dogs. I just don't know whats happened to her

Awww, I sure hope she shows up. Maybe she didn't hear what everyone else said, and she IS setting somewhere!

I'm sorry you are worried. I would be too. I am crossing my fingers that she comes back to you soon. She's a woman... maybe she went shopping.

I've lost 4 ducks to owls, 2 just recently. I hope she's just taking a walk or maybe she's just that "odd" pekin that sets (even leghorns set sometimes). But it could be an owl.

Good News! She turned up around lunch time. I don't know where she was, but I'm sure glad she is back, but nowhere near as glad as her mate! I think maybe she thought about sitting, but then decided it was too much work.

It is possible she was sitting, last year I had a duck sit on the porch inside a large dog crate, her mate was very upset because he didn't know where she was, he didn't go on the porch and couldn't see her from the ground.

Normally I wouldn't think the mate would be upset, my sister's duck is sitting and her mate is very protective of her, but if he didn't know where she was at it's possible.
