My Duck Reggie (and a duck diaper issue)

Yes it is, but she can/does get around and seems pretty happy. She has a friend named Cocoa a kahki.View attachment 1906175

I love Khakis! (And Pekins of course). So Cocoa is friendly to Moon even with her disabilities? We were looking at female duck breeds that are good with disabled ducks. Even though we’ve had many khakis before, we’ve never had a disabled duck. Any insight?

Be sure to get a female because a drakes mating behavior will not be good for a disabled duck. Are you keeping her in a secure area so she won’t get picked off too? Maybe put a safe mirror in her coop to keep her company till you can get her a friend. They love to look at them selves.

Hahah the fact about mirrors is hilarious! Will definitely look into that. And you’re right about Drakes they can be feisty little things. Definitely will get a female. And also yes;Milk got attacked at our old house we’re we had fewer protection: more of an open area. But now at our new house Reggie has a safe predator proof daytime pen and is temporarily staying in a secured area in our garage. We are currently building her a nighttime coop.

Hi and welcome to the BYC flock!!! May I ask what Reggie disabilities are? I have a mostly blind disabled Pekin.

I have a partially blind Pekin too. He’s bonded with a kahki Campbell hen and a domestic mallard drake.
If my Pekin gets separated he kinda panics and quacks really loud, the other two respond and help him out.

Oh wow! Has he been blind since a duckling? I thought it was extremely odd mine was only 3-4 days old when my daughter noticed. Actually she is very calm, it's my kahki that obnoxious and seems to panic lol.

I got mine from BoNanaspetboutique through Etsy! Works well enough but is isn’t the easiest to put on.. I actually have to put it on upside down cause he was freaking out with the fabric under his belly, but seems to tolerate it now. I’ve heard great things about sewsammi but they’ve been closed for the summer, I’ll be ordering one of the those once they come back cause I think their design looks the best!

Also! Get yours a stuffed animal, mine loves snuggling with his. Doesn’t seem to pay attention to the mirror anymore, he only did when he was younger
