My almost 2 year old Rouen has never laid an egg. Is there something wrong? She lays on a nest and my ducks are constantly mating but she has never laid. Should i order her some fertilized eggs? I am new to this. Any advice is absolutely appreciated!!! These are my kids...

I have a Production Blue chicken who is just a dud (I know, she's a chicken but same concept 😂). I got her around the same time as my other chickens and they have all been laying for awhile now. She sits in nesting boxes every once and awhile and tests out making nests in the corners of the coop. But no eggs. She is perfectly healthy. Ive had a few other people have the same issue. Its uncommon but sometimes they just don't lay😂. A true homesteader would cull them but I can't bring myself to do that. My dud is also strangely small (but not bantam).

I wouldn't order her fertilized eggs unless she goes broody, which is unlikely if she isn't laying at all. You might just never get eggs from her but hey look at the bright side you also won't have to deal with any medical problems that are egg production related.

If you are really hoping for a broody duck. You can try a clutch of fake eggs and see if she responds, but I would not spend money on real eggs unless she has been broody for 4-6 days. I have heard that Welsh Harlequins are the best broody ducks and best moms. I don't know this from experience as my welsh harlequin is only 3 weeks old, but maybe in the future you could try them.
