My ducks are laying so well!

I never thought I'd get an egg a day from the girls. I have what I was told were BEI, Blue Swedes and Khaki Campbells. Turns out, after some research, that I have Golden Star ducks and a Black East Indies. I have been getting an egg a day from the two GSs and today my Maddie laid her first, beautiful, battleship gray egg. I am such a proud Mama.

We'd been eating them thinking they were just really big Appenzeller Spitz eggs.

Turns out the duck ducks are laying in the nest boxes in the chicken coop. They had laid a few under the coop, but I guess decided to lay inside with the rest of the birds. I'm so proud of my ladies And the BEI egg is so super cool!

I love duck eggs. They make fantastic quiche.

Well I have been saving up some scovy egg for incubating but I accidenty dropped one and it cracked a bit it I just gathered it today so I knew it was fresh.I cracked it more and put it in the frying pen and I was amazed at how big and golden the egg was.And it was absolutly awseom tasting I think even better then the eggs I get from my pekin.
