Ok so I have a small flock consisting of Rouen, blue Swedish, Saxony & Welsh Harlequin with a Rouen mix drake.

I thought I had everyone’s eggs semi identified but now I’m second guessing myself.

I get 2 pretty identical cream coloured eggs, 1 slightly whiter pointier egg & a blue/green egg.

This is who I thought was laying what:

Saxony- cream color
WH- cream color
Blue Swedish- whitish pointy
Rouen- blue Green

For the last week when I go to collect eggs my Rouen been on a nest of either 1 cream coloured egg or a mix of eggs. Then my Blue Swedish today was on the blue/green egg.

My WH & Saxony are never usually on a nest when I go to get eggs & I will say when I pick up a whiter pointy egg it’s usually not in a nest & I’m pretty sure is just getting laid where the duck is at that moment. So now I’m wondering if it’s coming from my WH as she is the smallest of the ducks but obviously that’s not saying much.

I do currently have a batch of their eggs in the incubator so now I’m super interested to see what comes out of the eggs...especially that blue green one & white pointy...

Well it’s official.

Went out this morning to collect eggs. Found the whiter pointy egg out of the nest (as usual).

Blue my blue Swedish was in the nest so I got her up & she was on the blue/green egg.

Stella my Rouen was in another nest under plastic slide. I walked over to her & she left the nest but no egg. So I grabbed the feed bin & walked to the shed to get their food. When i came back (only a couple mins later) Stella was under the slide again. So I walked over & she left again & there lays a fresh not even dried cream egg!

So my Rouen is laying cream eggs & my Blue Swedish is laying the blue/green egg...

I checked the egg color chart for breed & blue/green eggs isn’t normal For the blue Swedish. Then I read a breed description & it says white, blue or green eggs.

The other interesting thing I find is the breed that is suppose to lay the least amount of eggs (blue Swedish) compared to the other breeds I have is the one that does not skip a day!

That was the other reason I thought it was my Rouen laying the green egg is that the breed is suppose to be the one that lays the most amount a year.

That is interesting! I have a Rouen that I'm pretty sure is laying a blue-green egg. I have all Welsh Harlequins and just the one Rouen, and I've been getting one blue-green egg everyday. The WH eggs have always been cream/white colored. This is the first year that the Rouen started laying. But I had read that their eggs were white too, so I thought it was a little odd.

Also just have to share that I only have four ducks right now (all hens), but yesterday I had 6 eggs in the nest. (They make one nest in the coop and everyone lays their eggs in it.) Thought it was an April Fool's Joke! And then today I had 5 eggs. I'm pretty sure it's my WH duck that just started laying. Her hormones must be a bit whacky. Hopefully they'll level out soon, poor thing! Luckily all of them have been perfectly hard-shelled.

Haha I’ve had a couple days this spring like that. I was short 2 eggs one day & then the next day had waaay too many. In my case I think some one did a good job putting straw over a nest & I missed it thinking it was empty.

I’ve also had a week where the blue/green eggs were bigger than normal. I didn’t notice until 10 days in the incubator & I candled...now I’m playing a wait & see game for twins in 2 separate eggs.
