My Duck's Legs are weak and he can't walk!

I don't know what to do. My duck is pigeon toed and always had a harder time walking then the other ducks. I put him in the pool everyday to try to strengthen his legs but he just finds it too hard to walk so he just lays down all the time and all the other ducks are starting to pick on him. Is there anything I can do besides keeping him in the pool to strengthen his legs so he can walk around with my other ducks? Please help

I am new here myself, but thought that you might want to try adding brewers yeast to your ducks diet. It has niacin which can be lacking in some ducks diets causing foot issues. To read up on it https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/242460/the-ultimate-list-of-duck-treats-and-supplements it is under the supplements section. Have you checked under the ducks feet to ensure that your duck does not have an abrasion? Bumblefoot will also keep a duck from wanting to walk.... I hope someone with more expertise can help. I hope your duck gets stronger.

How old is your duck? Supplements may help - but if it has always had an issue walking it could be a deformity that it hatched with - or from an injury incurred at some point.

well once again the same advice. THIS IS GARUNTEED TO WORK if its a deficiency. bacisally someone said brewers yeast. the reason that sometimes this works is the niacin in it. but its only trace amounts what you need to get is pure niacin tablets which you can find in a pharmacy or online. and what you do with it is you crush around hald a tablet and put it in a syringe with water and squeeze it down his gullet. i had a duck who didnt walk for months and after only 3 days of this he was perfectly fine. try this and in just a few days youll see a great improvement. youll start seeing it from day 1.

aw sorry about your ducks legs! i would try brewers yeast! a lot of people i know have tried it and it has worked for them! hope your duck is ok! lemme know if it works out!

My duck is almost 3 months old. They all fell down a few stairs and thats when my duck started to limp a bit. After a few days he was falling all over the place so I took him to the vet and he ended up having a worm inside him so after I gave him medicine and the worm died, he was able to stand up for long periods of time but then he just got weaker and weaker so I'll try giving him niacin in a syringe. Today he didn't even want to be in the pool he just stood in it and tried to get out. And he couldn't even pull himself to move anywhere. I'll keep everyone posted on the niacin

hopefully it shall take effect soon. i dont know about water because mine dislike it but because daffy didnt walk for 3 months i did hydrotherapy with him

Well Itried the Niacin and it doesn't seem to be working. He can't even move around anymore and when i put him in the pool he is only using 1 leg to walk around. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with is feet but theres definately something wrong with his leg and i don't know what to do. I don't know how to splint it or anything so I don't know whether to put him down or what

Sounds like your duck may have a virus. Does he have diarrhea too? Are his droppings watery? If so, he could be coming down with duck viral enteritis. Supposedly duck viral enteritis is incurable and fatal, but I would try giving him a nanosilver solution to drink for at least 2 months and then every night for maintenance. You can buy Silver Biotics nanosilver solution at most of the better health food stores. It's cheaper to order it online, so you could place an online order to buy more when your bottle runs out.
You would need to take away all your duck's water sources and have him drink the nanosilver solution on an empty stomach and wait at least 15 minutes to a half hour before he eats. Give him straight nanosilver solution to drink all night (put a couple tablespoonfuls in a little ramekin next to him), then have him drink it at noon, in the afternoon, and around sundown. Have him on this protocol for at least 2 months, then just have him drink it at night for maintenance dosage. Don't worry about how much of it he drinks, but if you're wondering, the maintenance dose is probably about a quarter teaspoon a day for a healthy duck. A sick duck needs much more.
Hand raised ducks that are not vaccinated against viral enteritis and viral hepatitis are susceptible to getting these diseases, and some of the first signs of them are when your duck gets weak and stops walking. He could stop flying next. Don't delay, buy the Silver Biotic today. Nanosilver solutions have no problems with other medications and no side effects...but they must be taken on an empty stomach. Supposedly they are very effective against any viral, bacterial, or fungal infections.

Another idea if your duck is coming down with duck viral enteritis...you could try ordering an antiviral medication called Zovirax (acyclovir) from overseas. You can order it from a place called inhousepharmacy.com. They've been in business for decades and have the best reputation of any online meds seller. It's not expensive and comes in 200 mg tablets.
Acyclovir may kill the herpes virus that causes DVE...people are starting the use it now to treat avian viruses, and limited info about this can be Googled. You'll have to Google it yourself because my memory's failing me here. I'll try looking it up for you and post again today. Dosages are given in mg per kg for oral use. Acyclovir powder can be given with the duck's food without any problem. You'd need to crush the tablets and mix them in the duck's food or water. If you put it in the water, don't give it with the nanosilver solution though.
