Yes I thought of this just before i moved them in properly, the whole back and first metre has a green waterproof tarp, it’s definitely helped them roam more confidently also and it has been so windy this week, thank youOne thing I would suggest with your pen is to cover part of the top with a water proof tarp to give them some protection and shade from the sun.![]()

I was anxious that they would not eat and drink and lay dormant for hours, I go back to work next week but they will be almost 7 weeks at that pointThey may not be afraid to be outside, they just may be imprinted on you. You're the mother! When mother leaves babies lay low to avoid attracting predators.
They will grow out of it soon. I have runners, and they do exactly as you are saying. They go back to the crate when I leave, except to eat and sleep (which is why I have to clean the crate so often!). Somewhere around five to seven weeks they start lounging around the outside the crate, and by the eighth week are thoroughly enjoying their entire pen. Then, they only call me if they want water, or food, or fresher water, or out to the big yard, or fresher water....!
