I reccently took my Pekins to the fair and while they were being judged, they said they were just to small for pekins. Since pekins are meat ducks, they need more meat on their bones. I also have muscovy ducks and need them to gain weight to, so they will be ready for the fair next year. I might even sell them if they get big enough. They are perfectly healthy, just not big enough for meat duckies. Right now they are in with my others chickens/ducks and eating a mix of rolled oats and regular chicken crumbles. Plus some veggies from our garden. What can I give them to make them a little bigger?
Thanks :)

First off, where did you get them? Alot of hatchery stock is not show quality and are not going to necessarily meet the standard.

If you have stock from show quality birds, it may be dietary but if they are not from a show line, there is probably nothing that you can do. Excess feed will just make them fat.

Search for the show standards and compare.

I got them from breeders, the judge said they were great birds. Just not big enough. He said they met all the standards and everything.
