Hello byc! Here today with the news that I have finally gotten some more ducks! As some of you probably know, I've raised a few Pekin in the past, but am glad to say I have now managed to collect me own full flock of eight ducks! I have one dutch hookbill male, one magpie male, five Pekin females, and one khaki Campbell female, so yea I'd say I have a crowded pen! There are a few things I have learned that mamy websites have told you and I know told me:
1. My ducks and chickens do not get along. Either the loud large ducks scare my batman oor flight hens, or either the bossy hen attacks my smallest duck hen.
2. My ducks do NOT do well with free ranging, they panic and run around, ignoring the pond, I have to end up building a corral to heard them back to the pen, and they panted for awhile while their hearts slowed down.
3. My duck eggs and chicken eggs are about the same size.
