My Easter Egger is on strike!

I have 4 hens, 3 are Rhodies, one Easter Egger--and all are under one year old. The Easter Egger had been laying about every other day and has suddenly stopped. I know it's that particular hen, because we haven't gotten a green egg in over a week, but are still getting three brown ones very predictably. There is no possible place she could be hiding them, either. Can anyone tell me why? This is San Francisco, so the weather is cool, but not severe by any means. Thanks for your help!

Maybe she is molting. I know they stop then. They need all of their energy to regrow feathers. I have an EE who stopped laying for MONTHS. She was looking bad loosing feathers and weight. She regrew all her feathers and looks beatiful now. She just started laying again. First, it was shelless eggs and then a couple that look really rough. I think it is just taking her time to get her egg making apparatus back into shape.

We have two EEs, both went through a mini molt around nine months of age. She's long since finished her molt and still hasn't started laying again, so I hear ya! We've decided she's just holding out for nicer weather.

The other one went through a mini molt, but she wasn't laying yet. She started laying at 10 months old.

We love our little EEs but they definitely lay when they want and on their own schedule, not like the other ladies who are very predictable. At this point and time I wouldn't worry.

many hens aren't laying due to season and cold temps.. today on our hatchery grounds, out of many many hens, there wasnt even the first egg... ever heard of the hen's ladder? research tat.. but it is usually one hen at a time , not all...and you can often find one crazy tiny egg to show you that her ladder stage is up...she'll start back soon.. best of luck!dana

Greeting from the Marina District. I got 4 ladies by the bay. All are 30 weeks. Got lots of eggs from 3 but nothing from the Ameraucana. Very frustrating.
