i'm no expert, but i have some EE s that are 8 weeks old, and the pullets do not have near the comb development that the roos do, and my roos look just like this. just turning pinkish with a lot of definition, the pullets are still quite yellow and pretty smooth looking, so i also think you have a roo....

I have one that looks a lot like that, coloring and beard and everything... that is supposed to be a pullet but we shall see, cuz she is only three weeks old.

Yours looks pretty roo-ish to me. Not sure how old your kids are, but we have told ours that we will be sending ours to live in the country if they are roos (but that is the truth - lol) The kids also know that we could eat these birds, but that we probably won't since they are named pets.
