My EE is looking terribly bad. I think she's going to DIE!

I hope she's okay. One of ours was like that on Friday. 10 days old and not eating, drinking or pooping. Just sort of standing or lying around. Thanks to some threads I read here, I brought her into the bedroom, wrapped in a washcloth to keep her warm and massaged her crop for a while as my husband and I dropped water mixed with apple cider vinegar into her beak. I was so sure she was going to die that I didn't even want to look in the brooder the next morning. But there she was, all perky and eating....as if nothing had ever been wrong. That was three days ago and she's still going strong. I don't know if your baby will respond to something like that, but I hope you find the answer and that she's okay.

She's not pasty, but is acting the same as the ones who looked bad upon arrival. Standing far back on their feet, against the wall, eyes closed, not eating drinking, pooping or moving... I saved the 2 that looked like that when they came in the mail, and they're both doing okay (salmon faverolles)... and she's been fine up until today! My 3 year old is very concerned... I don't know what to tell her other than that I'll be surprised if she's alive in the morning... well, out of 30+ chicks, i suppose one down isn't surprising.. still really sad though. I don't even own ACV, or I'd give it to her... she HATES when I make her drink, and I feel bad torturing her, but she doesn't seem to be in pain, just seems like she's given up...

get some nutridrench or some sort of vitamin/eletrolite combo and put in the water.. mine are perky then one started to act droopy.. eyes shut .. turned out her eyes were bothering her and she wasn't seeing .. don't know if she got pecked in the eyes or not.. i used a strong brewed tea and swabbed her eyes.. and she is fine now.. starting to eat on her own and drinking her vitamin water. all the others seem fine and are 1 week old and still on vitamin water.. i also think the chick crumble is a little to big for them to handle so i have mashed it with a rolling pin to make it smaller.. gl with your babies. the little one with the eyes i fed yolk, crumble, vitamin and yogurt mix.. she inhaled it.

. I suppose some are born weaker than others but I'm wondering if they put in chicks older than others and that they are weak from lack of food or water before the 3 days are up.

I looked closer at her, and her stomach is big and hard, and her belly button looks like it has pasty butt... but her bum is fine.... it's just her stomach... I assume that's bad...

Would prep. H or disinfection cream help to clear it up do you think?

chickensducks&agoose :

I think she must have a bad infection, maybe prep H might have helped if she'd acted sick before... I really think she's going soon. Have you ever had anything like this?

No I've never had one go that way. Very sorry that she's that bad off.
