My hen that I suspected was an EE gave me a beautiful turquoise-colored egg every other day for about 2 weeks. She started laying at the same time as my other hens that I got in the spring--about mid-September. Then all of them stopped laying for 3 weeks or so. It was when we got a lot of rain and flooding; does weather affect egg-laying? Other people in town said their hens had stopped for a bit, too, and not just the ones that were moulting. Anyway, the others have started laying again, including one slow-poke that hadn't started before, but my EE is still holding back. I don't feel anything like a stuck egg when I pick her up, and she seems otherwise healthy. She's my only EE and I want to hatch some more EE chicks in the spring. What is going on, and is there anything I can do?

How much light is she getting? some birds, and I'm not familiar with EEs, need 14 hours of light to lay. If she's not getting enough light, and if you really want her eggs, try adding some lighting to extend her day.
