So, black Betty. (hen in my avatar.) she is an olive Egger, MOST of the time. Her eggs are not consistent whatsoever in color, and she frequently skips days at a time between one and the next. Sometimes they're deep olive green, sometimes they're more blue. Sometimes they're heavily speckled, sometimes not at all, and everywhere in between. These are the last two eggs she's laid. The bluer one today, and the 2-toned speckled one about 4 days ago. I am in awe of the beauty of these.

What would make hers so inconsistent? They usually are very pointy on the small end, with little ripples in the shell on that end. Still very hard shells, though.

Pretty! Does her diet vary with treats or foraging? Some people with dark-egg layers say special feed formulas can influence color. They sure change the yolk color.

Her diet is pretty consistent... She gets crumbles and Oyster shells and lots of foraging almost daily. I say almost because some days I'm not home to let them out of the run. But more days than not she does get to forage around the yard. Her yolks are always rich orange though, love them!

Are you sure you don't have more than one hen laying these eggs? I have two Easter Eggers. One lays blue, the other lays green. The shade might very slightly from the first egg of the week to the last egg, but it isn't very noticeable.

I'm pretty sure they're hers. Both of these were laid at the very end of the day, after all my others had already laid. Unless one could be laying 2 in a day?

Yeah I have 3 ee's and 2 lay blue and one lays green. There is almost no varying in the shades of the color. Probably have 2 different birds eggs or one amazing hen.
