my eggs are hatching!

Lamaze would be much better than hyperventilating. And today is my only day off, it figures. Had it been yesterday or tomorrow I would have come home to a done deal. Good luck with your hatching!

chick number three is half way out of the egg and I saw a beak poking out of number four. Holy cow, never thought they would hatch. First chick is completely dry and fluffy, second chick is mostly dry now, so think I'll take all the hatchlings out of the incubator for the night and leave the other ones in there to finish their hatch. Dont want to leave the babies out there all night, although they'd probably be fine.

12 hours later, have five chicks in the brooder, three more eggs still in the incubator that may or may not hatch, but homework is due in four hours and spent 12 running back and forth, so off to do that. Thanks for all the encouragement...will update if any more hatch tonight or tomorrow.

24 hours in, and I have six baby chicks in the brooder, one more egg in the incubator that I can hear cheeping in there, and one egg that shows no signs of life at this point. I'm going to do as was suggested and wait a while to see if the one that is talking comes out on its own, but any advice on how long I should wait? Don't want to try to help it hatch if it can still do it on its own. thanks for all the help and advice so far.

lucky number seven was hatched out and in the incubator when I got home this afternoon. Number eight shows no signs of anything going on, but seven out of eight makes me a very lucky woman. All seven of the hatchlings are in a plastic tub, inside a dog crate with a padlock on it to keep the baby out in my living room cheeping up a storm and running around like crazed balls of fluff. Thanks for all the advice and calming words, I was very edgy there for a while and would have lost my mind if you all hadnt answered my questions.
