I just got 5 new red stars, and they just started laying (I had five stars before, now 10). However, all the eggs are lighter in color, almost white, and the shell is not as thick as it used to be. I have also heard reports of bloddy spots in my eggs. The yolk is still beautiful, but the shell is not as thick. I have started giving them oyster shell and letting them out of the run to peck for bugs, but it doesn't seem to help. I really want to restore my eggs to their former glory. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would candle my eggs for blood spots if I were selling them or giving them away to anyone but family (not sure how common this is...) . Blood spots can be from lack of vitamin A or hereditary and usually should only occur in less than 1%.

She'll strength is influenced by vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus and manganese ( & od hens lay thinner eggs).
