I can really sympathize. The same thing happened to us. Our sweetest chick turned out to be a roo. He was the most cuddly one right from the start and just got more and more sweet with every day. Every time we took him out, the others would peck around and explore, but he would hop right up on our laps and snuggle in just like a cat. When he started to look more like a rooster, I tried to handle him less, knowing that I would have to re-home him someday. But he wouldn't have that! He insisted on being a lap-chicken and we loved it while we had him. I did have to find him a home and it was HARD and I cried just thinking about it. I put up an ad and got several responses, but I was careful and waited until the right person responded and found a great home for him! On the day they came to get him, I cried, I couldn't help it, but after they left, I felt wonderful knowing that he would have a flock of girls of his own and able to roam a big property in the country. They absolutely adore him and he is going to be a happy rooster and have a great life. I think that being an "accidental rooster" was the best thing that could have happened to him. I'm sure the right family is out there for little roo if you can't keep him.
