Hello. Obviously I'm new here. Going to raise up some chicks that were hatched in an incubator in my granddaughter's pre-K class. I have a Featherfoot rooster about a year old. I think something tried to get him the other night. Now he has wry neck. Trying hard to save this once mean guy. I hope I'm going about it the right way. He seems to be doing a tad bit better. Don't really know yet though. Looking through the sight to see what I can find.

The "Let's talk wry neck" thread was really good- you might look at that one.

Wry neck can be from infection, injury, or vitamin deficiency as far as I know- your description makes it sound like a for sure injury. You could try vitamins anyway.

Once I had a hen who was injured and her "wry neck" lasted for about 24-48 hours. Then she made a full recovery. I hope your little guy gets better.

Hello and welcome .... so glad you joined BYC

I had a young chick with wry-neck that made a full recovery also. Hang in there and good luck to you :)

Thank you all so much! Everybody here seems so nice. I've been here before through Google search and finally decided to go ahead and join.
My Featherfoot may be somewhat better. If I cradle him in my arm where his head is up and hold his little dish of food in front of him, he eats really good. He won't drink much on his own but does well when I use a medicine dropper. I just put a drop at a time on the side of his beak. Sometimes he'll open his beak long enough for me to put 2 or 3 drops in. He has got to Where he will get his head and neck up on his own and at times hold it up for up to 30 seconds. To me this is pretty exciting.
Anyway... I brought the baby chicks home today. There are three of them. They are black with a little whitish yellow coloring on them. I don't know but I was told that one may be a rooster.
Again thank you all so much.
