I just recently got a female quail to partner up with my one year old quail male I have had him since he was a young little chicken or whatever well today I introduced him to his new girlfriend and he seemed to be excited he did his thing he tried to you know after a few tries it seems like she didn't like what he was doing and I'll she started pecking him seems like its out of anger she doesn't want to see him at all and he's getting scared of her what should I do the space is big enough to fit 10 quails but I only have 2

Well, I have never had quail.but if quail are anything like chickens, she probably doesn't like to be rode for one also it sounds to me like she is just the more dominate one in the pecking order.my advice is to give it time and possibly expand your flock. For me with more chickens there seems to be less conflict.

Depending on the species you might need more hens. If they are buttons or new world quail it should be fine, but if you have coturnix quail then you should really have at least 4 hens with the male, otherwise he will mate them to death, and that will cause the hen to peck him because she'll be exhausted.

Other than this follow the advice in the other thread and good luck!! Sometimes things calm down after a few days too, or when she starts laying if she's not already

Regardless of the species, offer multiple hiding spaces for the hen to get away from the roo, and sometimes vice versa.

I have successfully kept pairs of coturnix, but I have enough birds to choose the most placid males, and offer at least 4 hiding spaces just large enough for one quail to fit in. Even button quail hens need an occasional break from their partners (kind of like us humans, lol).
