My females KILL any male I put with them

Made a good trade two mean female quail for a mated pair. Afriend was going to eat them any way so it all works out in the end. now if my button quail would start laying 8 weeks old so soon I hope.

Your first problem is only adding one bird to an established 'colony'. They will ALWAYS pick on the new bird. You need to put the male in a different cage and move one girl at a time into his cage. This will throw off the girls' territoriality and should keep them from beating him up.

Bingo. Shelley nailed it. Let him get established to his own cage first, then add the girls to his cage, one at a time.
