My dogs (English Cocker Spaniels) are finaly getting used to seeing the chickens in the run after 3 weeks. now they prettymuch ignore them also.

Thanx again,

David

That is great. Preditors will think twice about getting in for chicken dinner with your dog so close.

I would put in a 2 x 4 with the 4" side flat so your birds don't have to grip that slippery PVC pipe all night. I would think it'll get cold and stay cold in the winter.

Actually, that isn't a pvc pipe. It's a 2x4 that has been cut and sanded into a pole, so it is wooden. The pics make it look like pvc, but it isn't.

Haven't noticed any problems with them slipping on it, but I might need to rough it up a bit.

Also, at this age, they prefer to sleep together in the nesting boxes, on the ground. They all try to squeeze into the one closest to the window, it is quite comical.

As for cold, yes, it does get cold where I live. I'm still not sure if we'll be putting in a heater in there during the winter, but I don't think we'll need it. The walls, floor, and ceiling of the coop all are thickly insulated with foam, and the window at the end has a pane of polycarbonate we will put in during the winter to help keep the heat in. I'll make sure they're well taken care of, it just depends on how things go this first winter with the chickens

I love it! I love the color... old fashioned barn colors... but I was most impressed with the idea of laying down linoleum for easy cleaning purposes. That makes absolute sense to me! Thank you so much!
